WEAVINGS OF KABIR • CARD 35
The True Home
The Verse
चला था देश बिराने, अपना देश न चिन्या।
Chalā thā desh birāne, apnā desh na chinyā.
I wandered endlessly through foreign lands, never recognizing my own true country.
The Unspun Thread • The Context
Kabir observed a deep, quiet homesickness in almost every person he met. He saw humanity wandering through life like displaced exiles—constantly travelling, striving, and searching for a sense of ultimate safety, belonging, and peace. Kabir had a radical paradigm shift: he realized we are already there. We aren’t outcasts trying to earn our way back into the good graces of the universe. The very ground we stand on is sacred, and the Divine is our permanent, unshakeable home country.
The Knot • The Mind’s Trap
The mind is deeply addicted to the illusion of exile. It whispers that you are fundamentally alone, separate, and unsafe, forcing you to constantly hustle to build an artificial fortress of security out of relationships, money, or praise. This card exposes the exhaustion of psychological wandering. When you treat yourself like a stranger in a foreign land, you fail to notice the absolute safety and belonging that already surrounds you.
Weaving It Into Life • The Suggestion
Let your wandering soul come to rest tonight. As you close your eyes and lie down in your bed, let go of the feeling that you have to fix anything or protect yourself from the world. Whisper to your heart that you have arrived. Rest deeply in the absolute certainty that you are asleep in your true home, held in absolute safety by the Universe.
